The Project Authorization Request must be written and then submitted to the ACUC FMSUM6P.

. Requested documents expected in the form:

• A Layman and anonymous summary.

• Administrative and Formal documentation related to the project (I.e, Department, Project’s PI, participants’ qualifications…).

• Scientific relevance and rational for animal use.

• The justification for the choice of the animal model.

• The strategy for applying the 3Rs (Reduction, Replacement, and Refinement).

• Strategy to obtain expected results from the experimental protocol (Statistical analyses…) in order to achieve the objectives of the project.

• Detailed description of the experimental procedures to carry out the aims of the project (animal handling, anaesthesia protocol, surgery protocol, post-operational care, endpoints …).

• Severity level of all procedures (moderate, severe, without potential recovery).

• The End points.

• Potential of reusing the animals.
